Are Some Prescription Drugs Really Lowering the Efficacy of COVID-19 Vaccines?

Other Considerations

Treating autoimmune conditions is just one reason a person might be taking immunosuppressive drugs. These are also sometimes prescribed upon receiving an organ transplant, as the immune system is prone to seeing the transplanted organ as an invader, thus attacking it.

Cancer patients must also be careful. Because certain types of chemotherapy can suppress the immune system, they will also have an effect on the vaccine.

In these cases, your oncologist will know when, how, and even if you should be getting the vaccine.

No matter what, as mentioned earlier, making sure to adhere to safety guidelines as outlined by the CDC is a must for everyone, whether or not they’re getting the COVID-19 vaccine or not.
