What Can We Do to Mitigate This Problem?

So, what are some of the strategies that physicians and researchers have come up with? For most people, delaying or temporarily pausing medication may be the best solution, especially around the time of getting the vaccine.

In some cases, if the medication offers some flexibility, then it may be best for patients to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and then wait around two weeks before they start their immunosuppressive therapies. This is also the solution offered by Dr. Meghan Baker, an epidemiologist who works with immunocompromised patients at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
