Your kitchen sponge
When washing the dishes, many people prefer to use a sponge. If yours has been in the sink for several days, maybe you should consider replacing it. If you don’t, you risk contaminating all your dishes with germs, according to one study. Upon analyzing several sponges, researchers discovered 362 different species of bacteria. They also found that there were, on average, 45 billion bacteria per square centimeter on a sponge—yes, you read that right: 45 billion.
