If you thought that lice are bad, scabies is even worse. Dr. Khatri says that those who have scabies experience itching throughout the whole body, not just the scalp. In general, scabies on the scalp tends to appear in those who have a compromised immune system. But what is scabies anyway?

Well, it is actually an infestation of what doctors call Sarcoptes scabiei, a.k.a. human itch mite. This type of mites gets into the upper layer of the skin, where they deposit their eggs to multiply. Doctors say that, in most cases, scabies mites pass from person to person via direct contact. Note that scabies symptoms usually get worse at night.
