As crazy as it may sound, vitamin D can actually prevent type 2 diabetes, a condition that kills approximately 8 American adults per hour. A new study discovered that those who have vitamin D deficiency are more prone to develop type 2 diabetes.
Note that in the 12-year-old study all participants were healthy, with virtually no warning signs of prediabetes or diabetes in the first place.
After this long period of time, researchers concluded that the lack of vitamin D is a strong factor in developing type 2 diabetes. However, they also added that more research is needed to understand the connection between the two.
