Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers to the questions readers send us most.

Last updated

Is Healthy Habits medical advice?

No. Our articles are general health information for everyday readers. They can help you understand a topic and prepare questions for your doctor, but they do not replace a diagnosis or treatment. See our disclaimer.

Who writes the articles?

Our small editorial team. We publish as a team rather than under individual bylines. Our editorial policy explains how we choose topics, use sources and correct mistakes.

Where does your information come from?

We rely on reputable public sources such as national health agencies, peer-reviewed research and established medical organisations, and we link to sources where it helps.

Some articles are a few years old. Are they still accurate?

Every article shows its publication date. Much of our archive was written between 2019 and 2022, and health guidance can change. We update or retire articles when we learn they are out of date, and we welcome corrections.

I found a mistake. How do I report it?

Please use our contact page, with a link to the article and, if possible, a source. We review every request.

Is the site free?

Yes. Healthy Habits is free to read and is supported by advertising. Advertisers have no say in what we write; see our advertiser disclosure.

How do I subscribe to, or leave, the newsletter?

You can sign up for The Check-up from the form at the bottom of any page. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.

Why are comments closed?

Comments were overwhelmed by spam, so we have turned them off. You can still reach us through our contact page.

How is my data handled?

Our privacy policy and cookie policy explain what we collect and why. California residents can use our Do not sell my personal information page.
