What types of COVID home test kits are there?

There are two main categories of Covid tests. There’s the antibodies test and the Covid antigen test. The antibodies Covid test is a simple blood test, that will tell you if you’ve ever been exposed to the coronavirus, and if your body has developed the antibodies needed to protect yourself from this virus.

The Covid-19 antibody test kits are checking for immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies. If you had Covid, your body has by now produced the IgG antibodies, and you’ll see them in your blood test. It can take up to 14 days to create these antibodies, but most people develop them earlier. The second type of testing, the antigen test, is to see if you’re having an actual infection. This test is even more relevant because if it comes back positive, you know that you’re an active carrier and have to take the necessary actions.
