Drink water before meals
Many nutritionists recommend drinking water before meals as a way of filling you up so that you eat fewer calories, but mealtime can also act as “nature’s alarm,” reminding you to grab a few extra sips. Any time you sit down to eat, have at least one glass beforehand, and continue drinking as many additional glasses as you’d like during the meal.
Eat foods that are full of water
Remember, the total amount of water that doctors recommended is just that: the total. This means that you don’t have to ingest all of it in the form of plain water in a glass. You can get a portion of it from the food you eat. In fact, experts at the Institute of Medicine say that on average, we consume about 20 percent of our water through food. Try upping your food-based water intake with high water content foods like cantaloupe, watermelon, cucumbers, or vegetable-based soups.
