For years, doctors haven’t been able to explain to their patients why they’re dealing with anxiety disorders that don’t get better with treatment—until now, that is. According to one study published in May in the journal JAMA Psychiatry, there is a strong link between anxiety disorders and autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT), which is also known as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
