14 Celebs Who Won the Battle Against Cancer

Hugh Jackman

Type of Cancer: Skin Cancer

In 2013, Hugh Jackman discovered Basal Cell Carcinoma on his nose, and since then he’s had several procedures for skin cancer. Jackman now gets checked every three months.

“I’m realistic about the future,” he told the Associated Press. “And it’s more than likely that I’ll have at least one more but probably many more, which is not uncommon for an Aussie, particularly from English stock, growing up in Australia where I don’t remember ever being told to put sunscreen on.”

Jackman has used his fame to raise awareness about skin protection, including taking to Instagram with post-surgery pictures, urging people to “PLEASE! PLEASE! WEAR SUNSCREEN!”
