Arsenic, a natural part of the Earth’s crust, is toxic in its inorganic form. It’s often found in contaminated drinking water in places like Bangladesh, or in spots where irrigation systems for crops use arsenic water. The World Health Organization says at least 140 million people in 50 countries drink water containing high levels of arsenic. It’s also one of the cancer-causing agents in tobacco.
