As you probably know, dehydration happens when you lose or use more fluids than you take in. Most adults don’t feel thirsty when they are dehydrated, so thirst isn’t always a reliable indicator. But, when your headache strikes, you should know that drinking plenty of water could relieve the pain.

“Dehydration can cause headaches,” says Clint Steele, DC, a chiropractor and holistic health expert from Portland, Maine. “Making sure you are drinking enough water is hugely important. Consuming at least 64 to 70 ounces of water every day is crucial in helping to prevent health problems and also in helping reverse current health issues, including headaches.”
