8 Most Common Health Issues That Seniors Face

Alzheimer’s disease

This disease accounted for 92,604 deaths of people over 65 in 2014, according to the CDC. One in nine people over 65 (about 11 percent) have Alzheimer’s disease, reports the Alzheimer’s Association. The diagnosis is hard and it’s difficult to known exactly how many people are living with this disease.

Osteoporosis

“Osteoporosis can contribute to becoming less mobile and potentially disabled should you fall and have a fracture or as the vertebral bodies collapse,” Bernard said. It is estimated that 54 million Americans over 50 are affected by low bone mass or osteoporosis and this increases the risk of fractures that leads to a reduced quality of life for seniors.
