Some people with lupus can experience kidney inflammation. Doctors call this health condition nephritis. When your kidneys are inflamed, they are unable to do their job, namely, filter waste from your blood.
What’s really scary is that according to the Lupus Foundation, kidney inflammation a.k.a. nephritis starts to develop before five years of spotting any lupus signs or symptoms.
The only clue is its symptoms. High blood pressure, darker urine, frequent urination during the night, swelling in the lower feet, and blood in the urine are several possible symptoms of nephritis.
If left untreated, nephritis can actually lead to end-stage renal disease.
