#Subtle sign no. 5: Your cuts and wounds won’t heal
People who already deal with diabetes know that wounds have a tendency to heal more slowly.
Why? The answer is quite simple: diabetes represents your body’s inability to make or use insulin. The latter is actually a hormone that helps your body to transform the white stuff into fuel, namely energy. So, when your body is unable to convert sugar into energy, you will have high blood sugar levels; and this is why your body can’t heal your cuts and scrapes rapidly.
So, if you notice wounds that won’t heal, maybe it’s time to visit your doctor because a wound on a diabetes patient’s foot can result in lower limb amputation.
