  • Stay home on the first day if you can – If you feel like the cold is about to come on, it’s best to stay at home and rest. It’s absolutely mandatory to do that if you want to help your body fight the cold, especially in the first hours.
  • Stay hydrated – Have you ever wondered why you feel better after you ate chicken soup? Well, it keeps you hydrated. Drink lots of water, juice and tea in large quantities.
  • Exercise – By exercising lightly, you’re keeping your heart rate just under 100. That will shake off your cold, and boost your immune system.
  • Eat a meal packed with protein – Apart from chicken soup, if your throat isn’t hurting too much, you should try to eat some proteins as well. Lean meat or fish with a bunch of veggies will fill your body with antioxidants, boosting your immune system more than anything else. You should eat a meal like this if you’re feeling unwell.
  • Call your doctor if your symptoms worsen – If besides cold symptoms, you’re experiencing vomiting, bad headaches, or fever, these are all signs you should go to the doctor. You might be needing more than just some over-the-counter medicine.
