Persistent cough

Half of the people that are diagnosed with lung cancer have a persistent cough. If it’s related to lung cancer, it will develop on its own, not after an illness, and it will worsen in time.

A persistent and chronic cough is one that doesn’t go away and it should be alarming if you have it for more than 8 weeks. Although coughing is a natural reaction of the body to irritating particles in the throat or lungs, some acute coughs can be associated with infectious diseases. It may be painful, dry or even with phlegm. It can interfere with your sleep, and if it does bother you, it’s worth checking.
