You should find your peace of mind
One of the most common possible causes of nightmares is stress. So, if you are going through a stressful period – as a consequence – you will experience nightmares. Hence, in this case, you have to talk to yourself in the mirror and find out what your daily stressors are and try to fix the problem if you can, or simply seek the help of a psychologist.
You should know that you are not alone in this situation, and remember that stress is a factor that could cause a lot of health problems. Moreover, you can try to do some things that will distract you from your daily routine, such as meditation, yoga, walking, exercising, a hot bath or just relax while watching a good movie.
“They sometimes result from us trying to solve problems in our sleep — this is the brain’s rehearsal system at work in the night, so too much daytime stress can lead to nightmares when you go to bed,” says Alex Dimitriu, M.D., founder of Menlo Park Psychiatry & Sleep Medicine in California.
In the past, we’ve been told that working out before bed can affect your sleep, but the latest research suggests that people who exercise at any time of the day will sleep better, so don’t worry about this!
“Most people experience a drop in those stimulating hormones like cortisol and adrenaline within an hour or so after they work out, which puts your body in that relaxed, ready-to-sleep state,” says personal trainer Noam Tamir, founder and program director of TS Fitness studio in New York.
