The first thing that pops into our heads when we are experiencing stomach pain is food poisoning. However, you could add coffee to the list too. How so? Well… coffee contains compounds that can stimulate the production of stomach acid, making you more prone to stomach pain.

But note that in general, healthy adults don’t experience stomach pain due to coffee consumption, so, if your stomach hurts after drinking your morning cup of Joe, you should talk to your doctor, maybe something else is wrong. Meanwhile, consider changing your coffee habits—try decaf.
