Ulcers, IBS and Acidity
Coffee has many compounds such as caffeine and the acids which are found in coffee beans can irritate your stomach and damage the lining of your small intestine. This is a well-known problem for those who are suffering from gastritis, IBS, ulcers and Crohn’s disease. Experts usually advise their patients to avoid coffee completely. But the real question is if drinking coffee is the first trigger in these health issues. Well…let’s start with ulcers. Apparently, ulcers are caused by the Helicobacter pylori bacteria and the acidic effect coffee can contribute to the weakened stomach lining.
