4. You experience chest pain

Most of us tend to associate chest pain with heart attack, however, your chest could hurt due to a range of things such as problems in your lungs, esophagus, muscles, ribs, nerves, and, of course, anemia. You may ask what in the world has anemia to do with chest pain…well a lot, because your doctor may diagnose you with iron-deficiency anemia.

When there are fewer healthy red blood cells circulating, your ticker has to work even harder in order to move them through your body. As a consequence, your heart tends to beat faster than normal and you may start to experience chest pain. This is not an issue to ignore, especially if you’re dealing with other heart problems such as coronary artery disease, or arrhythmia.
