Type of Cancer: Thyroid Cancer
In the year 2000, Rod Stewart was undergoing a routine CAT scan when a tumor was found on his thyroid gland. Surgery on the throat was a terrifying ordeal, especially for a singer, but Stewart credited the skill of his surgeon with making him cancer free.
“I’m one of the lucky ones,” he told the Oral Cancer Foundation, “The first thing you think is ‘Why?’ The next thing you think is ‘What can I do to help?”
And Stewart has since devoted a great deal of time to the City of Hope Foundation, which seeks cures for all kinds of cancer.
