Numerous studies pointed out that people with periodontal disease are at a higher risk of a heart attack or any other severe cardiovascular issues. This happens because periodontal disease maximizes inflammation, the latter being a risk factor to certain conditions like atherosclerosis, the plaque build-up in your blood vessels that leads to a heart attack.
