Sitting way too many hours on the couch watching your favorite Netflix show could affect your ol’ ticker. Snacking and drinking unhealthy beverages while doing it is even worse. Jennifer Haythe, MD, associate professor of medicine at the Center for Advanced Cardiac Care at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York, says that binge-watching is linked to cardiovascular disease.

And yes, watching TV shows for hours can be tempting during the coronavirus pandemic, but it’s best to avoid sitting for prolonged periods. A study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association found out that binge-watching for more than four hours daily could increase your risk of developing heart disease.
