4. Loss of taste

While a loss of smell and taste can often occur at the same time and wouldn’t appear to be all that dissimilar, doctors like Joseph K. Han, MD, note just how unique losing one’s sense of taste really is.

Han explained that “losing sense of taste is from a completely different nerve system, a different disease process.” He also added that researchers are trying to figure out how exactly coronavirus causes this strange symptom as it’s currently puzzling experts.

Also, in an online statement, the British Association of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT UK) outlined that both anosmia and loss of taste had been found among “a number of patients” in the “absence of other symptoms”.
