This silent treatment is often ignored by a lot of people, particularly those with stressful careers or daily lives. If you’re feeling tired you might think you only need a good night’s sleep or a vacation to recharge your batteries. But this sort of fatigue could actually be due to a number of health conditions.
Lung cancer could be just one of them. This happens because your body is working particularly hard against decreased lung function. Keep in mind that this symptom can develop over a long period of time so you might not notice the changes at first.
If you’re over the age of 55 or if you have a 30-year history of smoking, you might not experience any symptoms at all. Does that mean you should just go about your day as though nothing is wrong? Absolutely not, especially if you’re worried about lung cancer.
Once you start developing actual symptoms like fatigue, headaches, and back pain, it’s a sign that cancer has spread in other parts of the body. On the other hand, stage 1 lung cancer might fly under the radar completely unless you discover it by accident. Most patients find out about it after getting a chest or spine X-ray for totally unrelated reasons.
So if you have concerns it’s time to check if you can get a low-dose CT scan. These scans are not without risk but your doctors will be able to tell you if you’re a candidate. Get yourself checked before it’s too late!
