You should encourage a person who is dealing with loss to accept professional support. “Many therapists are offering free or reduced-cost individual or group support sessions for those impacted by COVID-19,” Cowan said. “Compiling a list of these resources for your friend or loved one is an easy task that could make a tremendous impact.”

“Encourage them to identify all their support networks and to reach out,” said Heather Cosimini, an associate professor of psychology at Johnson & Wales University.
