Kidney disease
According to a recent study published in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, people who suffer from chronic kidney disease and periodontitis are more likely to develop severe complications that can lead to death, than people with healthy gums.
“Periodontitis may add to the systemic inflammatory burden in individuals with chronic kidney disease, thereby contributing to an increased mortality rate,” concluded the study.
Unfortunately, chronic kidney disease can be fatal without dialysis or a kidney transplant. So, it’s important to try to pay more attention to the signals your body is giving you and talk to your doctor for more information, diagnosis and treatment.
