Eat less animal protein
Because foods that are high in animal protein can increase urine acid, you should avoid them. High urine acid can cause both uric acid and calcium oxalate kidney stones. Try to avoid beef, fish, poultry and pork.
Avoid vitamin C supplements
These supplements can cause kidney stones, especially in men. According to one 2013 study, men who took high doses of vitamin C supplements doubled their risk of forming a kidney stone. Researchers don’t believe vitamin C from food carries the same risk.
