Many people try this method to lose a few extra pounds, but many studies have shown that intermittent fasting can improve your overall health and help your digestion. It involves cycling between periods of fasting and eating. 

In other words, not only is it a very popular trend when it comes to eating, but it is also a healthy method to cleanse your body. Intermittent fasting focuses on when you should eat, not what types of foods. 

According to Jillian Michaels, health and wellness expert and author, you should “create a 12-16 hour fast period in every 24-hour day by concentrating your food consumption to roughly 8-12 hours and [not eating] outside of that window. This tells your nutrient-sensing pathways to trigger autophagy (the process in which your body culls dead/senescent cells) for optimal health, immunity, and vitality.”
