3. Infection

Due to the fact that infections affect the immune system, they can also provoke psoriasis flares, as the latter is actually an autoimmune disorder. A psoriasis patient may experience flare-ups almost six weeks after he or she has had an infection.

However, some infections are more likely to cause a psoriasis flare-up than others. Tonsillitis, strep throat, bronchitis, respiratory and ear infections are more prone to provoke psoriasis flare-ups.

4. Injury

Injuries including cuts, bruises, bug bites, scratches, sunburns, and even vaccines can all cause a psoriasis flare. In fact, a psoriasis flare is more likely to show up after these injuries when compared to other triggers. Note that, in this case, psoriasis can appear in the areas where the skin has been injured.

Fortunately, if you act quickly to treat your injury, you can avoid a flare-up. However, a psoriasis flare-up may not occur immediately. It can also appear in two weeks.

Speaking of vaccines… Here are 10 myths you should completely ignore!
