This form of cancer starts with the buildup of polyps along the wall of the colon—as these polyps reproduce, they present the patient with major digestive problems. If those polyps remain benign, meaning they are non-cancerous, the patient will feel a discomfort; if they become cancerous, they can cause cancer cells to spread throughout this and other parts of the body.
Colon cancer is very dangerous because it is hard to detect. Signs of colon cancer are easy to confuse with other less dangerous health problems such as irritable bowel syndrome or stomach flu.
