These Are the Health Benefits of Meditation

Reduces stress

Physical and mental stress can cause increased levels of the stress hormone named cortisol. This hormone produces many of the harmful effects of stress and these effects can disrupt sleep, promote anxiety and depression, increased blood pressure and contribute to fatigue.

Controls anxiety

For example, an eight-week study of mindfulness meditation helped participants reduce their anxiety. It also reduced symptoms of anxiety disorders such as social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, phobias, paranoid thoughts and panic attacks. Meditation can also help control job-related anxiety.
