- It affects your mental health –Â Open up the TV in the morning and you’ll hear on the news the top stories and headlines of the day. And they are usually saying either about deaths, accidents, or big scandals. It’s not ideal to hear all these the minute you wake up and definitely not the most positive start to your day.
- You watch, and they make money out of it –Â Unless you didn’t know by now, these television networks are big businesses, and they have to do whatever they can to keep you looking at the screen. Because the more you watch, the more ad revenue they make.
- You’re not necessarily informed –Â Did you ever notice something when you watch national or local sports? The same news that you heard in the morning, you’ll be hearing at the end of the day as well. Although they might leak new coverage from now and then, most of the time it’s the same news. Why? If they had big audience in the morning, they’ll definitely make it by night as well.
- It doesn’t affect you –Â Unless it’s a new law or warning of something that can be dangerous for everybody (how it happened with coronavirus, for example), it’s not harming or affecting you in any way. That’s the thing with the news reports: we don’t need to be aware of every single crime that’s been going on, in order to be safe. Everybody already knows that. Although it’s hard to turn your eyes away from something like that, it’s energy-consuming and it can affect your mental wellbeing.
- It’s misleading you – Not to mention propaganda! If you’re a curious person, sometimes you have to dig deeper to hear the true story. Because most certainly, there are many things that are being emphasized to you. But if you’re someone, as mentioned before, that doesn’t like being lied to their face, you probably already know that watching the news won’t get you anywhere with real facts.
