9. Hormonal changes
A study released a couple of years ago found that hormonal changes in women can trigger psoriasis flares. The link refers to low hormone levels because psoriasis flare-ups have a tendency to occur when the levels of some hormones are low.
A woman can have low hormone levels during puberty and menopause, as well as after giving birth. In fact, psoriasis flares are pretty uncommon during pregnancy as the levels of certain hormones are high.
10. Tattoos
Indeed, more research is needed to understand better the link between tattoos, piercings, and psoriasis, but if you’re already dealing with this autoimmune disorder, it’s best to avoid getting a tattoo. Some are more unfortunate and may experience psoriasis flares due to a two-year-old tattoo. The same goes for piercings.
Fortunately, in most states, parlors are not allowed to use tattoo ink on people with psoriasis. As for those who don’t deal with psoriasis, it’s best to check with your dermatologist first; maybe your medical history disagrees with you.
