12 Reasons Why Your Scalp Itches Uncontrollably

It is pretty rare, but Dr. Khatri says that scalp itching can also be caused by skin cancer. Melanoma, in particular, can lead to itching. However, there are three types of skin cancer that can appear on your scalp: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and the one we’ve already mentioned, melanoma.

Melanoma is more common in bald people as they are more exposed to the sun. Protect your scalp by wearing a hat and sunscreen and limit your time spent under the sun. If you see something unusual on your scalp, like a brown spot that looks like a mole or a crusted and scaly patch, call your doctor ASAP.
