Rosacea

Rosacea affects more than 16 million people in our country, and, sadly, the cause of this chronic skin condition is still unknown. People with rosacea experience swollen skin, flushing, redness, visibly broken blood vessels, sensitive skin, and dry, rough, and scaly skin.

Right now, there’s no cure for it, but there are several treatments that can relieve its symptoms. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, rosacea may even appear as a response to consuming spicy, caffeinated beverages and foods or hot meals. The condition can activate itself after going through stressful/emotional events, as well.

Generally, rosacea affects the chin, nose, and cheeks, but, according to Dr. Shainhouse, it can also affect the scalp, making it itchy.
