Speaking of anxiety, the two mental conditions could occur simultaneously. It’s best to keep in mind that studies have not shown that depression could lead to anxiety, so these are two separate conditions, but in a lot of cases if you suffer from one then you could also suffer from the other.

Here’s what you should look out for: restlessness, nervousness, feeling tense, feelings of dread, panic, or danger, increased heart rate, heavy or increased sweating, rapid breathing, muscle twitching, troubles focusing or thinking clearly.

If you suffer from any of these anxiety symptoms, watch out for any other signs of depression since the two often go hand in hand.

5. Irritability in Men

Did you know that men are less likely than women to recognize depression? This also means they’re less likely to seek treatment.

Not only that but it appears that the mood disorder affects men and women differently. Men might show signs of irritability, but other symptoms include misplaced anger, substance abuse, and escapist or risky behavior.
