Long-term care facility residents and workers

Due to the unfortunate number of cases that have sprung in long-term care facilities and nursing homes, the CDC has decided that the people who work in these areas, as well as residents, should be among the first who receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

As of November 27th, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities have seen 39% of all deaths in the U.S., coming up to 101,000 COVID-related deaths. So, keeping in mind that these workers and the people who live in these facilities are among the most vulnerable in America, the CDC’s decision comes as no surprise.

According to the CDC, those who reside in facilities that provide medical and personal care services to people who are unable to live independently all fall under this category.
