4 Things Doctors Want You to Know About Flurona

Will flurona happen in America?

As many experts have warned, there are a couple of cases expected in America this year. This will mainly happen because people get infected with multiple respiratory illnesses, like the flu and Covid-19, at the same time.

In fact, it’s not so uncommon to catch more than one virus at a time. But you can only imagine how damaged your immune system must be!

Even more, there’s one aspect many of us didn’t know so far: just because your body is currently fighting one infection, this doesn’t exclude the possibility of getting infected with other viruses!

And just like a Domino game, flurona is more likely to happen in the U.S.A because of how transmissible the Omicron variant is, given the fact that it’s spreading at an alarming rate. Plus, the United States reported an increase in Covid-19 cases on January 3, and the numbers are expected to rise even more in the following days.

While flu cases dropped in 2021 because we all had masks and maintained social distancing, they’re starting to grow again. And that can be due to the fact that not all measures have been practiced as strictly as they should have been. As an example, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have reported 4,514 flu cases during the week of December 18.

Some doctors even talk about a “twindemic”, which is scary just to think about. But as they explain, many respiratory viruses are thriving in the colder months, so the hope is that in the warmer months, things will start to calm down, and we will get a break from these infections.
