It goes like this: there’s a difference between conventional milk and organic. Conventional milk contains estrogen, as it comes from cows treated with hormones. And experts worry that consuming these extra hormones will make you more susceptible to certain types of cancers.
Organic milk, on the other hand, contains more heart-healthy fatty acids than regular milk. By feeding dairy cows more grass, there is an improvement in the fatty acid profile of milk, but also on the protein level.
The main reason why organic milk is healthier is based on the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids, which is in lower quantities than in regular milk. A diet that is based on too many omega-6 fatty acids and not enough omega-3s is linked to heart disease, cancer, inflammation and autoimmune disease.
