Here’s What I’m Trying to Tell You—Signed, Your Gut

5. ‘I don’t really like gluten…’

Many studies have been shown that gluten can maximize intestinal permeability, a.k.a. leaky gut. And yes, you don’t have to deal with celiac disease, not necessarily.

A leaky gut means that small pieces of undigested food and pathogens such as bacteria can easily pass through the lining of your intestines and find their way through the bloodstream, causing inflammation in the body and illnesses.

Pasta, noodles, crackers, baked goods, pancakes, pretzels, brownies, waffles, biscuits, croissants, bagels, and even beer are common foods and drinks that contain gluten. If you spot something unusual in your bathroom trips, try to avoid gluten for at least 4 weeks.

If you are alright after 4 weeks, maybe you’ll have to eliminate gluten completely from your life.

Psst! Always read the labels! Some unexpected foods also contain gluten. Potato chips, chewing gum, spices, and salad dressing are just a few.
