Have you ever heard of hot tub lung? No? Well, it is a really rare health condition caused by bacteria that can live in warm water. An Australian teenager contracted this rare disease from his warm indoor swimming pool last year.

He rapidly experienced difficulty breathing that sent him right to the ER. The doctors discovered that the teenager had the disease called ‘hot tub lung.’ This rare and strange health issue happens when people inhale a certain type of aerosolized bacteria. This bacteria is known for belonging to the genus Mycobacterium.

After a water test, the experts told the doctors that the pool was indeed contaminated with this harmful bacteria. The family believes that sanitizer might be the culprit since they switched the old chlorine sanitizer with a non-chlorine one.

Unfortunately, this disease leaves its marks on the lungs for a long time.
