Hoarseness/Wheezing
Another symptom of lung cancer that can be alarming is if you have sudden hoarseness or wheezing. Lung cancer may change how the air moves through your windpipe and vocal cords, it can change your voice, but can also cause huskiness or hoarseness.
The hoarseness comes as a result of coughing directly or by a tumor impacting the vocal chords in some way. It can also cause wheezing, and you might feel as if you’re breathing through a straw, with an audible sound. Just like other symptoms, these two can appear after a difficult cold or even laryngitis, but just to make sure, you should visit a doctor.
