11 Skin Conditions You Never Knew Existed

5. Elastoderma

Experiencing an increased looseness of the skin? Particularly on certain areas of your body? Then, you may be diagnosed with elastoderma, a condition in which the skin hangs down.

Elastoderma can show up in any area of the body. However, the most affected areas seem to be around the knees, elbows, extremities and neck.

Worldwide, almost one in 1,000,000 people deal with elastoderma. What causes it exactly is unknown, but experts think that it may appear due to an overproduction of elastin.

Since it’s extremely rare, there’s no standard treatment. But, unfortunately, some people with severe cases may need surgery.

6. Pilonidal sinus disease

People who have pilonidal sinus disease will most likely notice small tunnels or holes at the crease of their buttocks. Pilonidal sinus disease appears when the hair between someone’s buttocks rubs together. As a result, the hair is forced to grow back into your skin, not to rise to the surface.

Approximately 26 people out of 100,000 are diagnosed with this disease and most of them are young adults. Those who spend way too many hours sitting are more prone to develop pilonidal sinus disease. (Here Are 8 Clear Signs You Need to Move More!)

Once it gets detected, there are several ways of treatment, including topical ointments, antibiotics, and hot compresses.
