11. Dowling-Degos disease
This lesser-known disease called Dowling-Degos disease is actually a genetic disorder that leads to darkened skin. Patches of darkened skin usually show up in areas that fold such as joints, armpit, and groin. However, it can also affect the hands, scalp, neck, and face areas.
The vast majority of resulted lesions look like blackheads, but some people may even see scars that look like acne around the mouth. These lesions may also occur accompanied by a burning and itching sensation.
Most Dowling-Degos disease diagnoses are put on teenagers, and while the disease isn’t fatal, it could be quite difficult to handle it since it can cause anxiety.
Up until now, there’s no cure for Dowling-Degos disease, but laser therapy is currently used to ease the outbreaks.
