Indeed, celiac disease has many physical symptoms, but it can also affect your mental health. As strange as it sounds, depression is a common celiac disease symptom. However, a study concluded that depression is more common in adult patients than in children with celiac disease.

In another study, 48 individuals reported having a bad mood after consuming gluten foods. So, being consistent with a gluten-free diet can minimize a celiac disease patient’s risk of developing chronic depression.
