Hair loss – thyroid condition

The moment you start noticing thinning hair, along with brittleness, you should make an appointment with your doctor to check out your thyroid levels. The hormones produced by the thyroid are important in the development and maintenance of hair follicles. So if your locks are looking less luscious, that could be the result of an endocrine disorder.

For example, hypothyroidism is a condition that makes your body produce a lower-than-normal amount of thyroid hormones. In addition, a lack of thyroid hormone can cause sluggishness, dry skin, and cold intolerance, but also weight gain. Your hair loss might be caused either by this or by low ferritin levels.
