Split ends

While split ends can appear fast because of extreme damage, they usually develop slowly, as a result of various damaging factors. Some of the processes that damage the end of your hair cuticle might be heat, friction and physical damage. Physical damaging can be done by styling, brushing, detangling, handling, and touching your hair.

And while we’re on the styling chapter, you should know that heat can damage your split ends pretty bad as well. Excessive heat causes extreme damage to your hair. If you still want to put your hair through any kind of styling process, at least make sure you are hydrated enough. After all, water makes up 25% of the weight of a single strand of hair, as Jacynda Smith, the founder of beauty company Tyme, says.
