12 Things Your Hair Can Tell You About Your Health

Premature greys

Our bodies have millions of hair follicles or small sacs lining the skin. The follicles generate hair and color or pigment cells with melanin. In time, hair follicles lose their pigment cells, which makes the hair turn grey. In the case of premature greys, there might be some deficiencies of vitamin B-6, B-12, biotin, vitamin D, or vitamin E.

After some studies, it has been proven that the color can return with vitamin supplementation. Also, oxidative stress plays an important role. It causes imbalances when antioxidants are not enough to counteract the damaging effects of free radicals. Too much oxidative stress can be at fault for the development of diseases, like the skin-pigment condition vitiligo.
